Asim Roy, MD

Asim Roy, MD

Asim Roy, MD is the medical director of the Ohio Sleep Medicine Institute. He is board-certified in sleep medicine and neurology and has worked closely with Central Ohio healthcare providers to deliver coordinated sleep medicine care to adult and pediatric patients. Beloved by his patients, Dr. Roy brings a thorough and thoughtful approach to patient care. His enthusiasm and talent in furthering new treatment options are very much appreciated by patients. A big proponent of education, he also trains medical professionals on sleep disorders management in Central Ohio and across the country. He is the author of various articles and chapters. Roy completed his neurology residency at Georgetown University as Chief Resident and his sleep and neurophysiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Neurology, American Medical Association and Columbus Medical Association.   

Shikha Mistry, MD

Shikha Mistry, MD

Shikha Mistry, MD is a sleep medicine physician at the Ohio Sleep Medicine Institute. She provides compassionate, evidence-based sleep medicine care to patients of all ages. She particularly enjoys treating hypersomnia and circadian rhythm disorders although all parts of sleep medicine interest her. She also takes a keen interest in working with children and families struggling to get their loved one to sleep.  She approaches sleep issues from a holistic perspective under the premise that sleep interacts with many aspects of health. She is a dedicated practician who strives to build strong, trusting relationships with her patients based on open communication, active listening, and collaboration. Dr. Mistry is board certified in family medicine. She completed her sleep medicine fellowship at the Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. She was the chief resident physician at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center in Maumee, OH during her family medicine residency.  She is a reviewer for the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine and recently published an article on Sleep Disorders in Children and Adolescents with Long COVID. She is a current member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Ali Artar, MD

Ali Artar, MD

Ali Artar, MD is a clinical and research associate at the Ohio Sleep Medicine Institute. He is board certified in sleep medicine and psychiatry. He has practiced sleep medicine for most of his medical career. His informational approach to patient care is praised by patients and appreciated by the medical community. He is thorough, attentive to his patients’ needs and very dedicated. Dr. Artar completed his sleep medicine fellowship at the Department of Neurology, Sleep Disorders Center, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, founded by Michael Aldrich, a pioneer in the field of sleep medicine. He later became medical director of a sleep diagnostic center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and subsequently practiced sleep medicine in Indiana and Wisconsin. He is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Psychiatry and Neurology, and American Medical Association.

Deepa Patel, CNP is an experienced adult nurse practitioner in the field of sleep medicine. Her understanding of the subtleties each disorder present and her detailed attention in educating patients are instrumental in providing outstanding care. She is very positive by nature and is keenly interested in seeing her patients progress. She invests herself deeply in their care and will go the extra mile to ensure meaningful and successful outcomes. She has over the years built strong collaborative relationships with Central Ohio health providers. OSMI is very much appreciative of having such an astute, encompassing, and good-nature provider as Ms. Patel is, for the benefit of its patients and the community. Ms. Patel holds a Master of Science in Nursing from John Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Towson State University, Towson, MD.

Mary Hurley, CNP

Mary Hurley, CNP

Mary Hurley, CNP is an energetic and dedicated nurse practitioner who is strongly committed to helping patients reach and maintain better sleep health. Over her career, she has developed a keen understanding of patients’ challenges and how to overcome them. She draws her holistic approach to patient care from her previous work experiences in critical care, family medicine, and mental health. Ms. Hurley educates patients to fully appreciate how all aspects of their health may impact the way they feel and function. She enjoys sleep medicine as a field knowing that she can make a difference in her patients’ life. She develops a strong collaboration with her patients, emphasizing education and guidance, particularly important for patients who are willing to make the necessary changes to become healthy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Toledo. She completed her Family Nurse Practitioner Program at The Ohio State University.

Sharis Shabandari, CNP

Sharis Shabandari, CNP provides compassionate care with a holistic approach. She became fascinated by sleep medicine during her medical training at University of California Berkeley, CA where she discovered the cognitive and clinical implications of sleep deprivation. Drawing from her past clinical experience with diverse health-related and cultural populations, she likes to foster a nurturing environment, so patients feel comfortable sharing their sleep and health concerns. She takes into consideration the whole picture of her patients’ past and current situation to implement the most adequate care plan. Ms. Shabandari believes that building a relationship with patients as well as their family allows for better outcomes. She cares for her patients as she would like other healthcare professionals to treat her own family members. She highly values collaboration and on-going communication with other providers. She received her Master of Science in Nursing and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Azusa Pacific University, CA.
